When is ImpactKBF opening? Here’s the latest…

Dear Friends,

First, and most importantly, we hope this email finds you well. We’re going through unprecedented times and people are suffering hardships of all kinds. It is our sincere hope you are doing OK. If we can do anything for you, don’t hesitate to reach out.

When is Impact going to re-open?

Related to our studio, we have some hopeful news. Non-essential Bay Area businesses are slowly opening up and it appears gyms will get the green-light soon. There is no specific date for this, however. While we are planning IMPACT’s re-opening, gyms in our area cannot open until San Mateo County Medical Office provides us with specific requirements and guidance, and more importantly, the timeline for gyms opening in our area. Know that as soon as we are able, we will open and open safely. Rest assured that our reopening plan will focus on everyone’s health and safety as our number one priority!

Livestream Classes Continues!

We are excited to announce that we will continue to offer livestream classes even after the Shelter in Place has lifted. Not only do we wish to accommodate members that are in high-risk groups or prefer to workout from home at this time, we also wish to remain accessible to those who no longer live in our area. As a reminder, unless you have specifically requested, all memberships have been frozen since our closing as of March 16th.

How You Can Help

Small businesses are suffering, and that includes our gym. IMPACT! Kickboxing Fitness had a small profit margin before the pandemic and we’ve been losing money every day since March 16th. Thus, we are profoundly Thankful to those of you who have supported us financially during this season of uncertainty.

For those that would like to help us while we wait for our turn to reopen, you can:

  • (Kickboxing members) – consider resuming membership and workout with us online.
  • (Aerial Students) – consider donating your unused classes and workout with us online.

Lastly, you can donate to the ImpactKBF Support Fund via PayPal – CLICK HERE – to organize donations that will ensure the successful reopening of the studio after this crisis is over.

If you would like to help us or have any questions, email Tammy at tammy@impactkbf.com or Erik at erik@impactkbf.com.

We would also like to give you a preview of what to expect when we reopen (Note: our final reopening plans will include all SMCMO requirements).

Here are some of the changes that we are anticipating:

  • Both garage doors will be opened during all classes to encourage natural air ventilation.
  • All staff will be cleaning specific areas of the studio while classes are in session.
  • Sanitizing stations will be set up in the studio for your convenience including hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes.
  • Everyone will be required to bring their own yoga mat and towel to use for wipe down.
  • We will increase the number of times a week the gym is professionally cleaned.

Kickboxing Fitness Classes

  • All participants must use their own boxing equipment including hand wraps & boxing gloves. Equipment will be available for sale at the studio.
  • Initially, members will have to use their own jump ropes.
  • Shoes will no longer be allowed. We are asking everyone to go barefoot for workouts. You are welcome to use ankle wraps, and those are encouraged.
  • We will be socially distancing members with each member using one bag per rack. We anticipate the max class size will be 16 people, and these will be by reservation only. This will be strange and may feel inconvenient at first but your health, and the health of our staff, is more important.
  • To offset the class size limitation, we will add several more classes throughout the week.
  • Class schedule will be adjusted so that there is time between classes for members to finish working out and exiting before members come in for the next class
  • Initially, we will not have any partner work. We all love mitt and kick pad drills, but again, we want you all to stay healthy.
  • Women’s Self Defense will remain frozen until, most likely, early next year.

Aerial Fitness Classes

  • Since we have been off silks for such a long time, we will be scheduling aerial conditioning classes as appropriate to start that will be available for students of all levels that were currently enrolled at Ascend or have been attending our aerial conditioning livestream classes
  • Class size will be reduced so that students will have one silk to use during class to accommodate social distancing
  • Class will be 75 minutes max per class
  • Hands will be washed thoroughly before during and after class

Additionally, we are looking into upgrading our gym in ways that will promote better hygiene and prepare us for a time when things return to normal. We hope to be around for a long time, and hope to have you along for the ride.

Yours,

Tammy and Erik
